Distracted Driving

Tragically, distracted driving is trending. In 2015 alone, nearly 3,500 people were killed and an additional 391,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers.

Distracted driving involves any activity that diverts your attention from safe driving, including:

  • Talking or texting on your phone
  • Eating and drinking
  • Talking to passengers
  • Fiddling with the stereo

All actions can be dangerous when they take your attention from the road. For many, texting and driving presents the real danger. Texting while driving takes your eyes off the road for an average of 5 seconds. At 55 mph, that's enough time to cover the length of a football field.

In addition to being dangerous, texting while driving is also illegal. As of Nov. 1, 2015, texting and driving could cost you $100.

Don't be driven to distraction. Safer roads start with you. Make the commitment to drive without distraction today.
