Oklahoma is committed to combating impaired driving by incorporating state-of-the-art training, technology and enforcement techniques. Over the past several years, Oklahoma has stepped up its efforts in the area of impaired driving prevention and enforcement. Drug and alcohol-impaired driving crashes continue to represent a significant portion of the traffic fatalities in our state.
The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office utilizes evidence-based strategies including high-visibility enforcement, training, regional task forces, testing and media campaigns. With the assistance of our statewide partners, OHSO creates effective programs to reduce the incidence of impaired driving and associated traffic crashes.
The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office participates in and provides administrative support for the Governor’s Impaired Driving Prevention Advisory Council (GIDPAC). OHSO works in conjunction with GIDPAC to execute the statewide strategic plan to reduce the incidence of impaired driving in Oklahoma.
